It Is Not An Overstatement To Say That The Charity “Help Musicians” Have Made The Difference Between Many Musicians Surviving Or Going Under Across The UK.

The Latest GMI – Guitar & Music Institute 2021 Catalogue Is Now Ready To Download
It really is amazing how time flies as we realised that we were so busy working on projects last year that we didn’t get round to releasing the 2020 GMI catalogue, but we’ve set that right now with this years release pretty early on.
This years offering builds on the success and growth that GMI has seen over the last eighteen months.
NEW AUTHORS, NEW BOOKS
We have two new authors writing for GMI in Jamie Akers (classical) and Honza Kourimsky (Rock). We will soon have another addition in Ricky Boa who adorns the front page of our catalogue and who will be bringing out a book titled “The Secrets Of Slash”.
Along with Ricky’s new book, GMI founder Ged Brockie will also be releasing a mammoth book for jazz guitarists which is reported to be around 250 pages in size with a huge free download pack accompanying. Early indications is that this will be released within the 1st quarter of 2021 with Ricky Boa’s book being released in the 2nd quarter.
With all book releases, there may be slippage in the time table, but we’ll wait and see.
OTHER DEVELOPMENTS
GMI is also developing a wide range of branded and non branded (but with guitar related text and images) apparel for guitarist as we widen out our offering. We are also creating guitar related art for the home. Have a look at the GMI GUITAR SHOP categories and see what we’re creating. We’d love to hear what you’d like to see made available.
GET THE CATALOGUE AND PLEASE SHARE
As always, we’d like to thank you for all your continuing support. Please download the catalogue and consider the new books, apps and free offerings we provide for guitarists.
LEARN TO TAP ON THE GUITAR WITH TAPPING DISCOVERED
GMI are delighted to announce the release of our latest publication by guitarist Honza Kourimsky titled “Tapping Discovered”.
The book has taken over one year to create but the actual content has been gathered from over one and a half years of teaching, performance and recording experience in guitar tapping techniques. Â The best way to know what this huge project was all about is to watch the promo video that let’s you in on a huge amount of information.
WHAT’S IN TAPPING DICOVERED
So what do you get in this book? Here are the five chapters outlined.
146 pages of pure tapping goodness takes you from first principles in chapter one all the way through to the fiendishly complete solos in chapter five.
★ After legend and Tapping Form sections and videos there are 5 chapters.
★ Each of the first three chapters offer 14 exercises and then a complete solo.
★ Chapter four demonstrates ten amazing tapping licks in a variety of styles.
★ Chapter five includes two extended solos which includes all techniques, concepts and ideas presented within the text and videos of entire book.
CHAPTER 1
By the end of this lesson you will be able to travel up and down the length of the top string using multi-finger tapping. You will also learn how to adjust both your fretting and tapping grip to fit into and complement specific harmonic contexts. Finally, you will also learn to connect tapping patterns in a way that keep your hand relaxed and your playing in time with the music.
CHAPTER 2
By the end of this lesson you will be able to move up and down the length of the top string using legato tapping as well as combining legato tapping with multi-finger tapping as covered in lesson 1. As always, the emphasis will be on being able to execute these multiple techniques whilst staying relaxed and in time with the music.
CHAPTER 3
By the end of this lesson you will be able to connect multi-finger and legato tapping patterns with pentatonic tapping patterns and legato playing as well as making use of each of these patterns to cross strings on the guitar neck. You will be shown how to combine and use all the patterns you have learned so far to move both up and down the instrument horizontally and vertically.
CHAPTER 4
In this lesson we will study a variety of licks that use tapping to form at least a part of their melody. Apart from adding to your library of patterns and tapping technique, these licks will also show you how to connect tapping with other popular guitar techniques such as bends, slides vibrato etc. Of prime importance is how many of the styles presented are in styles of music often not thought compatible with tapping.
CHAPTER 5
In this final lesson you are presented with two contrasting solo pieces that involve all of the ideas and concepts presented across the last four chapters. You will be then be able to play these solos at various tempos with the downloadable backing tracks that are integral to the learning process of this publication. Once completed you will have an excellent grasp of tapping and how to use it in a myriad of improvisational scenarios. Â
